22-year-old Nicolás Rubilar brings victory to Chile!

Nicolás Rubilar from Chile won the World Tour 2019 - Paris 'Nations Cup' on the second day of the live event in Paris, France.

Selected from last year's World Finals results, 24 competitors from 13 countries participated in the World Tour 'Nations Cup'. Amongst them, only 12 drivers (the top four drivers from Semi-final Groups A and B, and four from the Repechage) have progressed through the Final Race.

Winner of the Semi-final Group A was the first European Champion Mikail Hizal (Germany), passing the chequered flag in 1st place thanks to a clever pit strategy. Rubilar, who registered the fastest lap time during the Qualifying Practice, ended 3rd.

In Semi-final Group B, Igor Fraga and Adriano Carrazza, both from Brazil, made a mistake with the tyre change rule, which forced last year's 'Nations Cup' Champion Fraga to the Repechage race, with the hope of qualifying for a spot in the Final Race. 1st placed in Group B was Kai Hin Jonathan Wong from Hong Kong, earning the right to start in 2nd place in the Final Race.

The Repechage presented a new format, never used so far in the Online Series: 12 rally cars racing on dirt all at once. This type of race requires a different technique than the usual tarmac track. Fraga, putting on stage a strong performance, won the Repechage and went to the Final. Host country representative Pierre Lenoir finished the race in 4th place after a fierce battle in the dropout zone and made it to the Nations Cup Final.

The Final Race was held on AUTOPOLIS in the "X2014 Competition" over 16 laps. Rubilar, who overtook Wong in the early stages, went in pursuit of Hizal who was in the lead. Rubilar made his second pit stop one lap behind Hizal and pitted out in front of Hizal, successfully overcutting him. Rubilar beat Hizal in the final stint's direct confrontation and grabbed his first 'Nations Cup' victory.

Nicolás Rubilar, who greatly improved during the off-season, came first in the 'Nations Cup' to bring victory to Chile. Germany's Mikail Hizal came 2nd. The first European Champion, also 2nd at the World Finals Nations Cup last year, unfortunately missed the win. 3rd place was taken by the Asian Region representative Kai Hin Jonathan Wong from Hong Kong.
