Test Season 8 Overview
2018/01/10

Test Season 8 was hosted in 10 rounds of racing held across into the new year, beginning Sunday, December 24, 2017, and ending Saturday January 6, 2018.

The season started with a Group 3 race staged on the new layout of the Kyoto Driving Park, the Yamagiwa + Miyabi. Here, Japan’s Brond, lambor-gallardo and Noway34 got off to a great start, marking their names on the top of the rankings.

In the beginning of the season we saw Brond (Japan) victorious in several races in a row, solidifying his position in the top ranks. Meanwhile JUN-_-JEEEEN also of Japan begins a chase up the rankings for what would be JUN-_-JEEEEN’s 6th series championship title if victorious.
After the first 5 races, Brond stood at 7182 points, and JUN-_-JEEEEN was at 6767 points, with a difference of just 415. Australia’s top contender Nik_Makozi followed with 6451 points, and Japan’s Created_by_Doll follows behind with 5628 points. Japan’s L-Shooter_RB26 is also not far at 5497 points, but because this season runs across 2 weeks, there was still nothing set in stone at this stage.

The next major shift in the rankings was in Round 6, in a Suzuki Swift Sport one make race on the Kyoto Driving Park. This was the last race of 2017, and L-Shooter_RB26 of Japan who started participating this season from Round 3 finished in 2nd place in the second race of the day, turning the tables on Brond and jumping to top position with 7380 points.

The superiority of L-Shooter_RB26 continued through Rounds 7 and 8, and it seemed the race will be up to the final Top 24 Superstars race to settle the score. However L-Shooter_RB26 did not partake in round 9 and the Top 24 Superstars race of the final round, taking L-Shooter_RB26 out of the top competition. JUN-_-JEEEEN of Japan also skipped races after Round 6, so there would be no 6 time victory this season.

Round 10 was a one-make race on Interlagos with the Porsche Cayman GT4. In the Top 24 Superstars race between the top contenders of the season, there were drivers such as Brond, kazunokota, s-o16com, and legacy0193 of Japan, saika159- of Hong Kong, and Nik_Makozi of Australia matched together in the race.

In this final race, Brond, kazunokota and s-o16com showed some solid racing skill, not giving way at all in the fierce fight. They finished the race in their qualifying order.
As a result, Brond became series champion, with legacy0193 and toybubu1205 in 2nd and 3rd respectively, filling the podium with Japanese drivers. This was Brond’s 2nd overall season win. For drivers from other countries, Australia’s thestig-13 placed 7th, and mfrayyan of Indonesia came in 8th. Brond also won the Manufacturer series this season, giving Brond a double title victory for Season 8.
