Driving Options

Driving Options can be selected from the Quick Menu. Selecting Driving Options allows you to adjust the following settings (the options displayed will vary according to race type):

No. of Laps
Set the number of laps for the race. The number of laps can only be set in Single Race (Arcade -> Single Player -> Single Race) and Multiplayer modes. In Multiplayer mode, Player 1 selects the number of laps.
Drift Mode
Set the scoring system for Drift Trials. You can choose between Sector Mode, where you will be scored only on the highlighted sections of the track, or Full Lap Drift, where your performance over the entire track will be scored.
Transmission
Choose between automatic and manual transmission.
Front Tires/Rear Tires
Select your front and rear tires. Dry tires are divided into three categories: Comfort, Sports and Racing. Each category is further divided into hard, medium and soft. Grip increases from Comfort to Sports to Racing, and from hard to medium to soft. The Racing category also features Intermediate and Heavy Wet tires designed for wet conditions. Heavy Wet tires have deep grooves designed to deal with full wet conditions, while Intermediate tires are for situations that combine both wet and dry conditions. Note that you'll need to use dirt tires on dirt tracks and spiked snow tires on snow tracks.
Driving Line
Toggle on/off the driving line display. Braking areas on the driving line are displayed in red, and all other areas are displayed as a broken blue line. Braking areas will change depending on your speed. In real races, the ideal line may differ from the driving line displayed due to your car's power and drivetrain, the position of other cars and other factors, so be careful not to rely on this display too heavily.
Blind Spot Indicator
Toggles on/off the function which warns you when opponent cars are close beside you when using the in-car camera view.
Active Steering
Adjusts the sensitivity of the active steering function, which automatically corrects steering when the car oversteers and the rear slips out. When set to 'mild', the system will allow for a certain amount of oversteer, while the 'strong' setting will correct even minor oversteer, allowing for a more stable driving experience.
Traction Control
Adjusts the strength of the Traction Control System (TCS), which prevents the drive wheels from spinning by controlling accelerator input. The greater the value, the more closely accelerator input will be controlled. The smaller the value, the less likely that acceleration will be suppressed due to sudden accelerator input.
Active Stability Management (ASM)
Toggle on/off the Active Stability Management (ASM) device, which prevents the car from spinning out. If the ABS setting is turned off, the stability management setting will automatically be set to 'off'.
ABS
Adjust the sensitivity of the Anti-Lock Braking System, which prevents the wheels from locking. When the slider is all the way to the left, ABS is switched off. The higher the number for this setting, the more of the available tire grip will be apportioned to cornering rather than braking.
Skid Recovery Force
Toggle on/off the function for beginners that stops skidding by increasing grip when the wheels start to slip.
Controller Steering Sensitivity
Adjust the movement speed and sensitivity of the front wheels in response to steering input from the directional buttons or stick. A smaller value will result in slower movement and smoother steering control. A larger value will result in quicker and more responsive steering. Adjusting this value will allow you to find a level of sensitivity that fits your playing style.
Force Feedback Max. Torque
Adjust the maximum torque of the force feedback function - the means by which information about contact with the track surface is communicated to your hands. The higher the value, the more resistance you will feel when cornering sharply, while lower settings will provide less resistance. This range of options should allow you to find a setting exactly to your liking.
Force Feedback Sensitivity
Adjust the point at which the steering wheel begins to provide force feedback - the means by which information about contact with the track surface is communicated to your hands. The higher the number, the more sensitive and responsive this function will become, while lower settings will reduce wheel movement when driving on the straight. This range of options should allow you to find a setting exactly to your liking.
