Jaguar Unveils its new Virtual EV Race Car, the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV!
On 16 December, Jaguar has unveiled their new virtual EV racing car, the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV. A full scale model of this car was also created by Jaguar Design, and its unveiling event is hosted on Jaguar's official Facebook page.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV is an EV race car designed by Jaguar and engineered by Jaguar SV (Special Vehicles). Based on the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé revealed in 2019, it incorporates further developments aiming for its success in 24 hour endurance racing.
The powertrain has been upgraded with a fourth additional motor added on top of the three motors seen in the coupé model. These power units packing all the know-how gained in Jaguar’s Formula E activity produce 1903ps (1400kW) of power and 3360Nm of torque.
Its top speed is an astonishing 255mph (approx. 410km/h). The lithium-ion batteries that provide the electrical power is thermally controlled with a liquid nitrogen cooling system, and ensures that its performance will not degrade no matter how many laps or hours the car is driven.
As with the coupé model, the car’s allure in terms of styling is of course its beautiful proportions inspired by the legendary C-type and D-type racing models of Jaguar, but it now incorporates a new front splitter, an underbody that produces a Venturi effect, and a large rear wing.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV achieves flowing long body proportions with these designs based on aerodynamics, to attain higher cornering speeds and stability in the straights.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV is a car that is the boldest interpretation yet of an all-electric Jaguar endurance racer. Please look forward to its appearance in Gran Turismo!
