Toyota's coquelopez14 Wins the Online Series by the Slimmest of Margins!

The 'Gran Turismo World Series' 2023 Manufacturers Cup got underway on the 7th of June.

Round 1 took place on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya National Layout, and saw Lamborghini's WiIIMurdoch go pole-to-win to top-score with 469 points.

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta—a highly technical track—was the setting for Round 2. McLaren's GG_DaniPH just about got the better of Toyota's coquelopez14 to win the race and score 470 points.

Round 3 took place on the Nürburgring Endurance track, widely recognised as one of the world's trickiest courses. The conditions changed frequently throughout the race, leading to a showdown that was chock-full of dramatic incidents.

Pole position was secured by Toyota's coquelopez14. The final race itself proved to be an epic showdown between the leading drivers, sliding along a low-grip surface that might as well have been ice. Despite starting the race at the front of the pack, coquelopez14 drove erratically on the GP section of the first lap, and dropped all the way down to seventh. As the weather kept changing, so did the leaderboard. Despite all this chaos, however, one driver started to make steady progress towards the front.

After performing poorly in qualifying and starting in 13th place on the grid, by the second lap TDG_JOSETE was putting pressure on the race leaders. In particular, TDG_JOSETE was chasing down the Subaru of R8G_Kylian19 in first place. He managed to withstand the pressure for a while, but then lost control and went into a spin on Ex-Mühle, with TDG_JOSETE moving into the lead.

TDG_JOSETE then succeeded in putting some distance between himself and the chasing pack, holding on to win a wild Nürburgring race and scoring 473 points in the process. It was yet another impressive performance from a driver who can never be underestimated on race day.

In Round 4, which took place on Sardegna Road Track B, R8G_Kylian19—who had struggled for form in the early stages of the series—suddenly found his pace once more. He soon built a 10 second lead over his closest rival, going pole-to-win to claim 479 points and moving up the rankings in the process.

Round 5 took place on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps's 24-hour layout. Toyota's coquelopez14 emerged victorious, taking 469 points in the process.

Watkins Glen Long Course was the setting for Round 6. Toyota's coquelopez14 took pole, and remained in first place as the race entered its final stages. With one lap remaining, however, everything changed.
Nissan's ERM_AntonioSK managed to overtake the leader, and went on to cross the finish line in first place, claiming 466 points in the process.

The final round took place on the Interlagos Circuit. coquelopez14 took pole once more, and led for much of the race. Once again, however, things changed as the race entered its final stages. Porsche's TDG_JOSETE managed to get on the outside of coquelopez14 on the ninth turn, and held on to finish in first place.

It was Toyota's coquelopez14 who ended up on top of the point rankings in the end, having scored consistently throughout the series. It was very close, however, with Nissan's ERM_AntonioSK in second place also scoring over 400 points on numerous occasions and ending the season just five points behind his rival—a wonderful performance from both drivers.

The question now is, which manufacturer will be coming out on top at the World Series Showdown 2023 in Amsterdam? We can't wait to find out!
