Featured Cars Introduction

TOYOTA GR010 HYBRID '21

A 4th consecutive winner at Le Mans for Toyota, this prototype race car took centre stage at the beginning of the hypercar era.

With the LMP1 class TS050 - Hybrid, Toyota Gazoo Racing took 2 consecutive wins in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons of the World Endurance Championship and 3 consecutive wins at Le Mans. However, from 2021 onwards, due to new regulations, the highest level of competition was moved to the LMH class. The GR010 HYBRID was developed to compete in these new conditions.

Being an all new design, it differs from the TS050 in many aspects, but where it differs most is the powertrain. The engine has changed from a 493.1 BHP 2.4L V6 twin-turbo to a 670.6 BHP 3.5L V6 twin-turbo. Meanwhile, the 493.1 BHP front and rear wheel electric motors have changed to a 268.2 BHP system on the front wheels only. This results in a four-wheel drive system that uses only electric power on the front and engine power on the back wheels.

For the 2021 season, car No. 7 was driven by the team of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez and car No. 8 by Sebastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley. This season saw Toyota take their 4th consecutive, and 6th total, Le Mans win, taking centre stage at the beginning of the hypercar era.
