Sony AI has showcased the latest advancements in its racing AI agent ‘Gran Turismo Sophy’ (GT Sophy) in a driving performance shown at the Gran Turismo World Series 2023 Showdown venue.

During last year’s World Series, GT Sophy competed and recorded victories against the best GT drivers in the world in exhibition races and it has continued to develop from that point onwards through state-of-the-art deep reinforcement learning technology and large-scale training via cloud gaming infrastructure. At the 2023 World Series Showdown venue, its latest progress was showcased in a thrilling driving performance that demonstrated the racing AI’s endless possibilities.

Kaushik Subramanian, Senior Research Scientist at Sony AI remarked in the video, 'It’s always surprising to see the unique ways in which GT Sophy learns to drive around the track'.
