As the race started the Audi (R8 LMS) immediately span out causing all of cars behind the Audi to also get caught up in the accident and making chaos ensue within the pack.
As a result of this confusion the virtual safety car was brought out and a full course caution was put into effect, during this time the speed was limited for all cars and they were forbidden from overtaking one another. Many of the players drove very aggressively due to their familiarity with the course which this lead to crashes with repeated full course cautions and restarts being enacted.
At the head of the pack the Renault Sport (R.S01 GT3), BMW (Z4 - GT3) and Toyota (FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo) pulled ahead and lead the race.
The BMW (Z4 – GT3) and Toyota (FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo) fought nose to tail endlessly throughout the race for 2nd and 3rd place.
Motorsports fans watching from all over the world were delighted to see this dream battle between FIA GT3 machines the modified original Gran Turismo cars from the group 3 category constantly dogfighting with each other all over the course.
As all teams finished up their driver switch there was no change to the top 3 leaders and no end in sight to the battle between the BMW (Z4 – GT3) and Toyota (FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo).
The Subaru (WRX Gr.3) which started at the back of the pack switched to Yamada midrace and began to fly up the positions at an incredible rate. Despite this however he ended up driving too hard and had an accident on the carousel on the final lap pushing into 3rd place Taneichi driving the BMW Z4 GT3. Kazunori Yamauchi, watching from the side-lines, let out a gasp as he watched the unfortunate sight of one Japanese player taking out another.
Race control looked heavily upon this mistake and gave the Subaru (WRX Gr.3) a 10 second penalty on the cars finishing time. Yamada went on to apologise to Taneichi for inflicting the first penalty worthy mistake on him in the history of 'Gran Turismo Sport'.
The battle for second place was decided on the Carraciola-Karussell were the Toyota (FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo) seemed to finally loose out the pressure of the fight and caught a wheel on the green causing a spin out. The BMW (Z4 - GT3) took this chance pulled its position up to 2nd place.
The Renault Sport(R.S01 GT3) [Yusuke Tomibayashi/Carlos Martinez] who maintained their lead from the start of the race came across the finish line first with a clear win and with that earned the glory of winning the Manufacturer Fan Cup.
