In 2008, Lucas Ordoñez put his skills at PlayStation® Gran Turismo to good use when he became the first winner of the Nissan PlayStation® GT Academy. Then a 23-year-old MBA student, Ordoñez was one of the fastest online gamers in Spain, which won him a spot in the Academy Finals where he battled an international field of competitors during five days of intensive race training in real cars at the famous Silverstone circuit.

After he was declared champion, Ordoñez participated in the Driver Development Program where his dedication and talents enabled him to obtain an international racing license. For his first race, he joined former Le Mans champion and Grand Prix winner Johnny Herbert to compete in the Dubai International 24 Hours as part of the GT Academy team. After a strong showing in Dubai, Ordoñez was recruited to drive for Nissan in the 2009 European GT4 Cup alongside Briton Alex Buncombe. The pair barely missed capturing the driver’s championship, finishing a close Second Place, but did manage to secure the team title for RJN Motorsport with some impressive outings.

In 2010, Ordoñez was back in the European GT4 Cup helping to develop the Nissan 370Z GT4. He finished Fourth in the series, despite missing one round to drive a one-off LMP2 racecar at Silverstone in the Le Mans Series 1000 km race. In 2011, Ordoñez joined the Signature Nissan team for an assault in the International Le Mans Championship. The seven-race series were run on some of the most challenging tracks in the world, including Sebring. Ordoñez scored four podium finishes, including Second Place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He won the LMP2 championship, topping it off with a win at the Zhuhai 6 Hours in China. In 2012, Ordoñez began the year on the podium at the Dubai 24 Hours, and then returned to Le Mans to drive alongside former-F1 pilot Martin Brundle and his son Alex Brundle. Ordoñez then helped guide the Nissan DeltaWing racecar to its first-ever race finish, taking 5th overall in the grueling 100-mile Petit Le Mans race held in the U.S.

For the 2013 season, Ordoñez wants to return to the States and run a full season in the ALMS.
