Story 4: The Venue — Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Countdown to the Gran Turismo World Series Showdown 2023

The year’s Gran Turismo World Series Showdown is set to take place in the historic city of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. With a population of just under one million, it is a growing metropolis with a rich history and unique customs, ones you must experience firsthand, rather than simply read about them on the web. Located in the Dutch province of North Holland, Amsterdam is known mainly for its many canals, adopting the moniker the 'Venice of the North.'

In addition to its historic waterways, not to mention the Van Gogh Museum, it’s also home to the European GT Explore Studio—the European headquarters of Polyphony Digital—and Theater Amsterdam, where the Showdown races will be held. Established in 2014 with the debut of the play 'Anne,' attended by King Willem-Alexander, Theater Amsterdam covers a space of 4200 square meters with a seating capacity of 1702, offering the ideal venue for a Gran Turismo World Series live event. Those planning to attend the Showdown 2023 will be happy to know that the venue is easily accessible by foot, public transport, and car.

Those wanting to attend can still do so by purchasing a General Admission ticket, a Gold ticket, or a Platinum Weekend ticket. The General Admission ticket is a one-day pass that includes entry to either the Manufacturers Cup on August 11 or the Nations Cup Final on August 12. Gold ticket holders also receive a Gran Turismo event T-shirt and early access to watch the GT Sophy demo run on Friday, August 11 or the Media Pro-Am race on Saturday, August 12.

If you opt for the top-of-the-line Platinum Weekend Ticket, you’ll not only have access to watch every event race, but you will also be able to attend a special screening of the 'Gran Turismo' movie, complete with a Q&A session with GT founder Kazunori Yamauchi. The movie screening will take place on August 10 at the historic Pathé Tuschinski, which opened in 1921.

The exterior of the theater is a sight to behold, with ceramic sculptures and a façade flanked by two magnificent towers, blending several architectural styles. Inside, there’s a main auditorium that can serve as both a movie theater and a live performance space. In addition to being a great place to watch a movie, Pathé Tuschinski is known for its organ that was transported from Belgium when the theater first opened. The site was declared a national monument in 1967 because of its amazing architecture.

Those who have an interest in watching a Gran Turismo World Series event live, the 2023 Showdown presents an amazing opportunity to also experience an amazing European city—one that’s unlike any other in the world. Story 3: The Rivalries, Who to Watch at the World Series Showdown Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier, the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, Liverpool and Manchester United, and in the world of motorsports, there have been too many to count. Every golden age of sports has been defined by its rivalries, and the Gran Turismo World Series (GTWS) has produced its fair share of them. In the early years, hard-fought battles between Igor Fraga and Mikail Hizal captured the attention of GTWS enthusiasts all over the world. Today, we are seeing rivalries develop among a different set of players, notably Coque López, Valerio Gallo, Angel Inostroza, Takuma Miyazono and current Olympic Esports Series Motor Sport champion Kylian Drumond.
