Featured Cars Introduction
Toyota Prius G '09
This Prius variant focused on both increased performance and delivering better overall driving pleasure.
The third-generation Prius, introduced at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, did not simply improve the environmental characteristics of its predecessor, it significantly raised the bar in terms of sportiness and the all-important fun-to-drive factor.
While the overall body style of the new Prius was defined by sharp lines and angles, making the vehicle more aerodynamic and better looking than the outgoing model, it also had a vastly improved drive system. A larger 1.8-liter engine was installed and more than 90 percent of the hybrid system was redesigned. And yes, it was more fun to drive than any Prius before it.
With an increase in the popularity of "green" vehicles in the global marketplace, the new Prius shattered its sales target goal of 10,000 units per month by selling 18,000 soon after its release. It continued to top the new-car sales chart for the next six months, all the way up to November 2009. Naturally, it was awarded Japan's Car of the Year for 2009.
The new Prius came in three trim levels of L, S, and G, with the G being the most luxurious, fitted with leather-wrapped steering and smart entry system.
