Season 2 of the 'Gran Turismo World Series' 2022 Nations Cup got underway on the 12th of August.

The first round took place at the Autodrome Lago Maggiore, with Japanese ace Kerokkuma_ej20 starting in pole position. He then picked up the pace in the early stages of the race, opening up a huge lead of 9 seconds over his nearest rival as he went pole-to-win. Second place was eventually taken by V1_CRV-KRT86, following a fierce battle with LG-TakuAn_ and TX3_tokari71.

Round 2 saw V1_CRV-KRT86, who would also perform very impressively in the Manufacturers Cup, score a Season-best 404 points. The race for the title was heating up as the middle part of the Season approached.

Round 3 took place on the super-fast Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Kerokkuma_ej20 emerged victorious, scoring 375 points and setting up a fierce tussle for top spot between him and V1_CRV-KRT86.

Neither Kerokkuma_ej20 nor V1_CRV-KRT86 were able to get the win in Round 4, however, with Arrow71sr instead claiming the victory and earning 390 points in the process.

Arrow71sr would then continue their good form with another victory—and another 378 points—in Round 5.

Round 6 featured a direct showdown between Kerokkuma_ej20 and V1_CRV-KRT86, with the former starting in pole position and the latter playing catch-up from the start. Around the mid-point of the race, however, V1_CRV-KRT86 hit the kerb aggressively, losing balance and allowing Kerokkuma_ej20 a clear run to the finish line. A race that always seemed likely to have a major bearing on the outcome of the Season had been won by Kerokkuma_ej20.

Kerokkuma_ej20 was now very much in the box seat, and went on to score a Season-best 401 points in Round 7. V1_CRV-KRT86 simply couldn't keep up the pace, and failed to score any points in reply.

The last race of Season 2 took place on Trial Mountain. V1_CRV-KRT86 was hoping to turn the tables and stage an epic comeback, but the round was won instead by Akagi_1942mi, pulling off a masterful feat of race management to score 378 points. It wasn't enough to catch Kerokkuma_ej20 at the top of the rankings, however, and the Japanese driver emerged as the Season 2 champion.

This Season saw the emergence of a new Japanese star on the Asian scene—but in the end, the youngster wasn't quite able to get the better of the old master and 2020 champion, Kerokkuma_ej20.
