The first stage of the Manufacturer Series got underway on June 9th. It turned out to be a fierce battle between Toyota (yamado_racing38) and Lexus (SG_Kawakana).
Lexus (SG_Kawakana) took 3,062 points in the first round and 3,075 in the second, while Toyota (yamado_racing38) took 2,995 points in round three and 3.030 points in round four. Neither driver could add to their total from the fifth round onwards.
The final race of the first stage was a showdown between Gr. 4 cars on Sardegna Road Track B.
Toyota (yamado_racing38) set an eye-catchingly quick time during qualifying to take pole position. Lexus (SG_Kawakana), on the other hand, really struggled, and had to start from fifth place on the grid. They got off to a great start in the race itself, however, rapidly rising to third place and putting pressure on Jaguar (legacy0193) in second position. As a result of this tussle, however, Toyota (yamado_racing38) were able to further extend their lead.
yamado_racing38 is something of a Gran Turismo legend, but he's showing no signs of being ready to step aside to make way for a new generation. Indeed, if anything, he's keep to further increase his dominance over them!
In the end Toyota (yamado_racing38) never relinquished first place, going pole-to-win and securing top position at the end of the first stage in the process.
