Introducing the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo: the 'Hayabusa' Engine and Electrification Technology in an AWD Super Sport

26 May 2022: The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo debuts with Update 1.15 for Gran Turismo 7. Suzuki is one of those rare world manufacturers who is known to produce both 4-wheel and 2-wheel vehicles, and have been heavily involved in motorsports in both genres throughout their history.

The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo is a car that was developed as a unique all-wheel drive super sport, a fusion of Suzuki’s sporting mindset that flows in their 4- and 2-wheel machines.

The body is an open 2-seater layout, and was developed incorporating Suzuki's cutting edge weight reduction technology. As a result the car only weighs 970 kg. The entire silhouette and details of the car carries over the DNA of popular Suzuki sports models such as the Swift Sport and Cappuccino.

The base chassis is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout with a front mid-mounted engine, but adds electrification technology to combine the engine with electric motors, to complete the all-wheel drive system.

The front mid-mounted engine is a 1340 cc inline 4 cylinder used on Suzuki’s ‘Hayabusa’ flagship sports bike. Furthermore, a total of three motors, two for the front drive and one for the rear drive, have been added. The combined total output of the system is 318 kW (432 PS) / 9700 rpm, with a maximum torque of 610 Nm (62 kgfm).

When thinking of other sports cars that utilize the Hayabusa engine, it brings to mind the ‘GSX-R/4’ midship sports car concept presented by Suzuki in 2001.

The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo is a VGT that brings back the legendary GSX-R/4 with the latest tech as an all-wheel drive super sport, overflowing with the sporting mindset of the brand. We hope you enjoy the world of pure sport as presented by Suzuki.

There are also plans to add a Gr.3 version of this Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo in the future: please look forward also to the appearance of this model that will embody Suzuki's passion for motor sports.
