Featured Cars Introduction

MAZDA RX-VISION GT3 CONCEPT

Mazda's dream rotary race car.

The MAZDA RX-VISION is a concept car announced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Based on Mazda’s 'Kodo - Soul of Motion' design theme, this was a challenge to create the most beautiful FR sportscar that Mazda could come up with. This car is also powered by the next generation rotary engine 'SKYACTIV-R', a dream that Mazda wants to bring to life in the future.

Overcoming numerous technical difficulties, Mazda successfully introduced a commercial rotary engine through the Cosmo Sport back in 1967. Thereafter as the only manufacturer to mass produce rotary engines, they worked to improve output, fuel economy, and durability, and even took the overall victory in the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race in their 787B.

The MAZDA RX-VISION GT3 CONCEPT expresses the design beauty of the base car in the form of a more aggressive race car. To meet the performance requirements of the Gr.3 category, the design draws from the 787B engine concept, with a 4 rotor engine brought back to life using SKYACTIV technology. This new rotary engine is mounted in a lightweight body to achieve unprecedented performance.

Subaru BRZ GT300 '21

Cornering better than ever before. A BRZ for the Super GT.

Subaru began competing with the original BRZ in the GT300 class of the Super GT series in 2012. In 2016, they were one of the top teams with some incredible performances on track. However, in autumn 2020, the 2nd generation BRZ premiered in North America, and later introduced in Japan in 2021, so a brand new machine was developed from the new model to race in the 2021 season.

As with the previous model, the engine was developed by STi and the body by R&D Sports. The vehicle as a whole was developed as an orthodox evolution of the previous model, carrying over many elements such as the basic structure and EJ20 engine.

Though based on the already aerodynamically superior 2nd generation BRZ, the body aerodynamics were further improved by adding details developed from the previous model. The car's cornering characteristics have also been improved through an overhaul of the weight distribution which included changing the position of the third damper.

Drivers Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi both continued their roles in the new model for the 2021 season. The new BRZ showed incredible potential from the start, taking pole position in 4 of the 8 races for a glorious champtionship victory. Subaru had been competing in domestic GT racing since the 1997 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, but this was their first such achievement.

Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept '18

First seen at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This racing Supra served as a preview for the production model.

The GR Supra Racing Concept, revealed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, is a concept model of the Supra, a Toyota sportscar that was produced until 2002. In this concept, the model was brought back for the first time in 16 years as a race car.

The car was developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing, the division of Toyota that handles their motorsports activities and the ‘GR’ sports car series.

This concept with its traditional long nose/short deck form is a front engine, rear wheel drive 2 door coupé. The compact body utilises light weight high strength carbon composite materials used in front line racing. The large blister fenders and rear wing, as well as the rear diffuser were developed to provide superior aerodynamic and driving performance.

The suspension, wheels, tyres, and brakes utilise pure race spec hardware. The interior contains a dashboard with a rear view monitor, racing seats, steering wheel with paddle shifters, and the column, pedals, roll cage, etc. are also all racing spec.

The Supra was loved by fans all over the world for a quarter of a century as ‘The Sports of Toyota’, and left a solid footprint in motorsports. Even today, many fans still eagerly await the Supra’s return as a road car.
