The Group A Semi-final race pitted the drivers against each other in their Gr.3 cars at the ‘Autodromo Lago Maggiore’.
Starting in pole position, Brazil’s Igor Fraga (IOF_RACING17), the favourite to take home the title, got off to a great start in his GTI VGT, putting some distance between himself and the Chilean Fabián Portillas (FT_Mcqueen91)'s Gr.3 FT1 VGT in second place.
Meanwhile, a fierce battle for third place unfolded further down the track with Canadian Jeffrey Gallan (FT_LLOYDZELITE) holding the position as Great Britain’s Adam Suswillo (GTP_Aderrrm), Spain’s Coque López (Williams_Coque14) and Japan’s Tomoaki Yamanaka (yamado_racing38) gave chase.
On lap four, the group battling it out for third place got caught up in traffic coming out of the pits, widening the gap between them and second place. And on the seventh lap, the front runners made their final pit stop.
In the final stage of the race, López (Williams_Coque14) put on a spurt, allowing him to overtake Portillas (FT_Mcqueen91) and grab second place.
In the end, however, it was the South American regional finalist Fraga (IOF_RACING17) who finished on top.
