The "FIA Gran Turismo Championships" 2020 Series Overview page was updated on Friday, October 9. The following is a list of the main changes.
■ 2020 Series Extra Stage
A time trial event that offers competitors an additional chance to earn a spot in the Nations Cup Online Regional Finals has been implemented. The event will be run from Thursday, October 15, 15:00 JST until Sunday, October 25, 23:59 JST.
Competitors who record times fast enough to meet the selection criteria for this Extra Stage will progress to the Nations Cup Online Regional Finals, which will be held in November. Competitors who have already secured a spot in the Online Regional Finals through Stages 1-3 of the Nations Cup 2020 Online Series will not be eligible. (A list of qualified competitors who have already qualified will be published at a later date.)
■ Nations Cup Online Regional Finals
The Nations Cup Online Regional Finals are online qualifying events for the Nations Cup Online World Finals.
This event will be open to competitors who have been selected from the Stage 1-3 rankings of the Nations Cup 2020 Online Series, and those who have been selected from the 2020 Series Extra Stage.
The Nations Cup Online Regional Finals will be divided into three regions: the Europe/Middle East/Africa region, the Americas region, and the Asia-Oceania region. The top ranked competitors from each region will advance to the Online World Finals, which will be held in December.
■ Online World Finals
The Online World Finals will be held in December.
The competitors and manufacturer teams listed below will be eligible to compete in the Online World Finals.
Nations Cup
・ Competitors selected from each region in the Online Regional Finals
・ The winner of "World Tour 2020 - Sydney"
Manufacturer Series
・Twelve manufacturers comprised of the Official Partners, and the top ranked manufacturers from the Stages 1-3 of the Manufacturer Series 2020 Online Series.
As in the case with the 2018 and 2019 FIA Gran Turismo Championships, the winners of the Online World Finals will receive awards at the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony held in December.
We will announce details regarding race dates and the YouTube broadcast for the Nations Cup Online Regional Finals and Online World Finals when they are confirmed.
