The 2019 Series Begins! Introducing the "Gran Turismo World Tour - Paris."
After a highly successful and exciting inaugural season of the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships last year, we are all set to do it again in 2019! But before the new season officially gets underway, the first "Gran Turismo World Tour" live event of 2019 will take place in Paris, France, on March 16 and 17.
The top competitors from last year’s FIA GT Championships will reassemble at Gabriel Pavilion in Paris for this World Tour event.
As with the previous World Tours, there will be a Nations Cup, with individual competition, and a Manufacturer Series, pitting car makers against each other. Think of this event as a preview of what's to come in the 2019 series.
An overview of the competition structure of the FIA-GT Championships, 2019 Series will be presented during this event. You can follow the action through the live broadcast section at Gran Turismo LIVE.
A Comment from Gran Turismo Series Producer, Kazunori Yamauchi
“I am thrilled to be bringing back the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships. It is great to celebrate and connect all the wonderful and incredibly skilled GT competitors from around the world, and what better way to do so than with this format.
Last year was a great success that culminated in a nail-biting finale in Monaco where we saw Igor Fraga (IOF_RACING17) crowned Nations Cup Champion, and Lexus being driven to victory in the Manufacturer Series by Tyrell Meadows (GT_Academy2013), Vincent Rigaud (Oscaro_SkyPikmin) and Kanata Kawakami (Kawakana222). I am excited to see what this season has in store!”
A Comment from FIA Deputy President for Sport, Graham Stoker
“Last year, the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships proved that the combination of Gran Turismo’s realistic simulation and exceptional skills of the drivers were a recipe for a world class event and the FIA is delighted to be supporting Yamauchi-san and the team once again. We genuinely believe this event can help shift gears and perceptions of online racing, and act as a turning point in the future of motorsport.”
