Toyota "GR Supra Racing Concept" World Premiere, Coming Soon to Gran Turismo Sport
On March 6, Toyota introduced the "GR Supra Racing Concept" at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland. This concept car will be added to Gran Turismo Sport in the April update, and only Gran Turismo players will be able to experience its performance.
The GR Supra Racing Concept is based on the Toyota Supra sports car produced up to 2002, brought back after 16 years in hibernation, this time in the form as a racecar. It was developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing, the division of Toyota that handles motorsports activities and the "GR" sports car brand.
This machine, with a traditional long nose and short deck, is a front-engine/rear-wheel-drive coupe that utilizes lightweight high-strength carbon composite materials found on racecars at the highest levels of motorsports. The large blister fenders and rear wing, as well as the rear diffuser, were developed to provide superior aerodynamic and driving performance.
The suspension, wheels, tires and brakes are pure race-spec hardware. The interior features a dashboard with a rear-view monitor, racing seats, and a steering wheel with paddle shifters. The column, pedals, and roll cage all comply to racing specifications.
The Supra was loved by fans all over the world for a quarter century as “The Sports of Toyota" and left a solid footprint in motorsports, including in the All-Japan GT race series, the IMSA Sports Car Races in the U.S., and Le Mans. You will be able to experience its performance very soon, so please look forward to the April update of Gran Turismo Sport!
Two special movies, the '"GR Supra Racing Concept, Born from 3 Elements" and the "'S' Spirit," are available for viewing at the Toyota Brand Central section of Gran Turismo Sport. These movies show scenes of the GR Supra Racing Concept in action. They also highlight Toyota’s sports-car spirit that has been held in high regard throughout the history of Supra. We invite you to take a look.
