Assist Settings

Settings

To bring up the Assist Settings menu, select "Settings" -> "Assist Settings" from the Quick Menu that displays before each race. From there you can apply various assistance-related settings to support your driving experience. The Assist Settings are as follows:

・Transmission
Choose between automatic or manual gear shift changes.

・Assist Preset Selection
You can change Driver Assistance presets. Selecting an Assist Preset will save you the trouble of adjusting each assistance function individually. There are three presets available, "Beginner", "Intermediate", and "Expert". Select "Beginner" if you're new to driving games, and "Intermediate" if you've had some practice. If you're more experienced, select "Expert". Details on each preset option are provided below. These assistance functions can also be configured individually, which will automatically change this setting to "Custom".

Beginner
Auto-Drive: Brake/Steering
Driving Line Assist: Cone Marker/Driving Line
Braking Indicator: On
Braking Area: On
Replace Car After Leaving Track: On
Stability Management: On

Intermediate
Auto-Drive: Brake
Driving Line Assist: Cone Marker/Driving Line
Braking Indicator: On
Braking Area: On
Replace Car After Leaving Track: On
Stability Management: On

Expert
Auto-Drive: Off
Driving Line Assist: Cone Marker
Braking Indicator: Off
Braking Area: Off
Replace Car After Leaving Track: Off
Stability Management: Off

・Traction Control
Set the extent to which engine power will be used to prevent tires from spinning when accelerating. The higher this value, the less your tires will spin. However, exit speeds from corners will be adversely affected. Traction control can also be adjusted from the Multi-Function Display (MFD) while driving.

・ABS
Adjust the effectiveness of your ABS (anti-lock braking system), which prevents tires from locking when you brake. At the "Default" setting, the braking force of all four wheels is controlled, and part of the tires' grip is allocated to turning force. Using the "Weak" setting deactivates this restriction, which makes it suitable for more skilled drivers. Selecting "Off" deactivates the ABS altogether.

・Auto-Drive
The Auto-Drive features allow the AI to perform functions such as braking and steering instead of the driver. Though slowing down a car to ensure stabilization will result in a loss of time, it will offer beginners an easy introduction to the pleasures of sports driving. Braking assist will cause the car to automatically slow down when approaching corners, while steering assist will prevent drivers from oversteering. We recommend that beginners use both Auto-Drive features at first.

・Driving Line Assist
Select various features to help guide you around the track.
Corner Indicators: Markers will be displayed on the sides of the track. Connect these markers to give yourself the perfect driving line.
Driving Line: A dotted line will be displayed on the track, indicating the ideal driving line.

・Braking Indicator
If you do not know when to brake, turn on the Braking Indicator. When it is necessary to brake, the speedometer will turn red. Then it will begin flashing, telling you when you should brake.

・Braking Area
A marker indicating when you should start braking will be displayed on the track. Turn it on when you need a clearer indication of where to brake.

・Replace Car After Leaving Track
Automatically returns cars to the course after a time if they go off-track.

・Active Stability Management (ASM)
Active Stability Management (ASM) is intended to prevent your car from spinning out, and can be turned on or off. When turned on, it will sacrifice speed for an easier driving experience. It should be turned off if you are looking to severely shave some time off your record.

・Countersteering Assistance
Set the strength of the countersteering assistance feature, which automatically rights the car when it has oversteered and its rear end has swung out. At the "Weak" setting, a certain amount of oversteer is permitted. At the "Strong" setting, even a minimal amount of oversteer will activate the system, enabling a stable driving experience.
