The Time Penalty system will change, starting with Round 3 of the "FIA Gran Turismo Championship 2018" Exhibition Series, Season 3, on Wednesday November 7, 2018.
In the new automated system, players will no longer be able to serve their time penalties at their own choosing. Instead, there will be a section on the track in each race where the cars will slow down automatically to clear the penalty.
This change will first be implemented in the Sport mode of "FIA Gran Turismo Championships," and it will also be introduced in the Daily Races in the future.
New Time Penalty System Details
The Time Penalties will now be cleared at designated "Penalty Lines," which will be indicated by a yellow arrow on the track.
When a car has been issued a Time Penalty, it will decelerate automatically when crossing the Penalty Line, and it will not be able to accelerate again until the violation has been cleared.
The locations of the Penalty Lines will differ from track to track, with up to four sets per track. While a Time Penalty is being served, the penalized car will be also be ghosted in addition to slowing down, so that it will not get in the way of the other racecars.
The driver serving the penalty will be required to drive clear of the standard racing line as to not be in the way of other cars. Those who do not comply may lose their ghost status, with their cars reappearing in front of racing traffic. If this causes any further incidents, it will be deemed the fault of the non-complying driver.
