Laura-Marie Geissler and Amsterdam Berlin Flip the Porsche Pink Pig Livery and Gender Norms in Motorsports
Laura-Marie Geissler, a 23-year-old female race driver from Germany, is looking to self-fund her 2022 season of GT4 racing, forgoing the traditional route of seeking sponsors.
Berlin-based creative agency, Amsterdam Berlin, which initiated the project, took inspiration from the "Pink Pig," the Porsche 917 Le Mans legend, for the design of Laura-Marie’s livery. However, instead of a butcher map, the 911 racecar bares the marks plastic surgeons use on their operations, representing the pressure put on the physical appearance of female drivers. Something Laura-Marie has experienced in her career.
I want to be seen for my driving, to be measured strictly by my performance," says Laura-Marie Geissler. "Not by my private life, my looks or the sponsors that I find or don't find.
Laura Marie's racecar livery has been recreated in Gran Turismo 7 on a 911 Porsche 991 GT3 RS and is available via her account for PlayStation™Network 'LauraGeissler.'
