Events
The World Finals 2023 event will host a number of exciting activities:
Friday, 1 December – TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup (19:00-21:00 local time)
The final of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup always proves an exciting start to the World Finals weekend. This year’s online competition was played out on Gran Turismo 7 over seven rounds. Now the world’s top 24 racers will gather in Barcelona for two Semi-finals and a 12-way Final. The competitive field features many established Gran Turismo World Series racers, but the TGR GT Cup always introduces some new talent into the fray. One thing that is certain is that there will be a new champion in 2023 since the 2022 winner, Brazilian Igor Fraga, will not participate this time.
With five Spanish drivers in the mix, there will be plenty for the home crowd to cheer for. The popular Coque López will be keen to make a winning start to the biggest weekend on the Gran Turismo calendar, but he’ll face stiff competition in this ultra-competitive series.
Saturday, 2 December – Manufacturers Cup (19:00-21:00 local time)
The Manufacturers Cup showcases a variety of stunning cars in Gran Turismo. A team competition, the top 12 car makers from the Online Series, including official partners Toyota, Genesis, and Mazda, are represented by three drivers each. Reigning World Champions Team Subaru were relegated to second place by Team Porsche in August’s World Series Showdown in Amsterdam. They will be keen to seek revenge, while Team Porsche will be buoyed by the return of their talisman, Chilean Angel Inostroza, who was forced to miss the Amsterdam event due to health issues. Team Lamborghini put in a highly impressive and entertaining run at the Showdown event to take the final podium place, but will be under pressure from 2022 podium finishers Team Toyota and Team AMG as they aim for the top step.
Sunday, 3 December – Nations Cup (16:00-18:00 local time)
In the Nations Cup, the 12 top-ranked drivers from the Nations Cup Online Series 2023 will lead teams of three from their respective country or territory. Team Spain is on a roll and will surely be the favourites for a win on home soil in front of a partisan crowd. Cóque Lopez took the Nations Cup title for Spain in 2022, when the Nations Cup was an individual competition. Teamed up with Jose Serrano and Pol Urra at the Amsterdam Showdown event in August, the trio were unstoppable and took a stunning victory.
Team France, Team Brazil, Team Japan, Team Chile, and Team Italy all have the raw talent, speed and race craft to beat them on their day and it will be fascinating to see if the home crowd can make the difference for the Spanish threesome.
Vision Gran Turismo 10th Anniversary celebration in the Gran Turismo Garage
It is 10 years since the innovative Vision Gran Turismo project began. Embraced by the automotive industry, more than 30 Vision Gran Turismo cars have been designed and released into the Gran Turismo game, in many cases giving a glimpse into the future of the automotive industry.
As a celebration of Vision Gran Turismo, the story of those projects will be told in a special public display at the World Finals venue including full-scale models of a number of Vision Gran Turismo cars.
The GT Café area
Celebrating all things Gran Turismo, an interactive zone in the World Finals venue will allow visitors to show off their own Gran Turismo 7 skills as well as experience the game as never before with PlayStation®VR2.
The GT Café will also have snacks and drinks for sale and will be accessible to all ticket holders.
