Setting Up the Camera
Scapes
After placing a car or cars, change to the 'Camera' tab found at the top of the screen to start setting up the camera. The following controls are available here:
・ Directional buttons: Control the menu
・ Left stick: Zoom/Roll
・ Right stick: Adjust direction (of the camera)
・ △ button: Take picture
・ □ button: Focus (Not available if 'Single AF' or 'Lock-On AF' is selected under the 'Focus' section of the Camera menu.)
・ Touch pad button: Enlarge image (full-screen view of the image)
The Camera Menu
The Camera menu will be displayed on the right-hand side. The camera menu has the following options.
Camera Settings
・ Aperture
Adjust the aperture. Lower this value to blur things that are in front of and behind the focal point. This option isn't available when the focus is set to 'Full Auto'.
・ Focus
Select the auto-focus method. If using Single AF or Lock-On AF, you can move the focus slider in the centre of the preview area by pressing □ button. This will allow you to focus on subjects without changing the composition of your shot.
Full Auto: Automatically sets aperture and focus.
Single AF: Locks the focus after it has been set. This is ideal for taking shots of stationary cars.
Lock-On AF: Maintains focus on a locked-on subject.
・ Background Blurring
Adjust the level of background blurring when the focus mode is set to 'Full Auto'. There are five levels of blur intensity available.
・ Exposure
Correct the exposure and adjust the brightness.
・ Shutter Speed
Adjust the shutter speed. When taking a panning shot, lengthen the shutter speed to make the background appear more fluid.
・ Camera Height
Adjust the camera height.
Panning Shot Settings
You can make the camera track a moving car in order to take a dynamic shot with a fluid background that gives a sense of speed. This is called a panning shot. In Scapes, you can reproduce this effect even while cars are stopped.
・ Target Car
Select a target car for the camera to follow, if more than one car has been placed.
・ Travel Speed
Set the speed of the target car. This has an effect on panning shots.
・ Camera Tracking Rate
Set the ratio at which the camera will move alongside the target car. The higher the number, the less intense the blur effect will be.
Environment Settings
・ Aspect
Set the aspect ratio for photographs.
・ Orientation
Select portrait or landscape orientation.
・ Resolution
Select the resolution.
・ Grid
Toggle display of the grid, which serves as a visual guide when composing your image.
・ Guidance
Toggle display of help balloons that provide information on controls.
・ Detailed Settings
Change the stick controls for moving the camera. The following settings are available:
・ Left and Right Sticks Settings: Switch the controls of the left and right sticks.
・ Vertical Camera Axis: Change the controls for the camera's vertical axis.
・ Horizontal Camera Axis: Change the controls for the camera's horizontal axis.
・ Horizon Click: This will cause the camera to stop moving for a moment when it is aligned with the horizon.
・ Ray Tracing: Enable or disable ray tracing, which replicates the complex behaviour of real-life lighting. This feature is only available on the PS5™ console.
・ Rendering Quality: Increasing the number of subframes when rendering will increase the quality of moving images. This is especially noticeable with light trails at night.
・ Shoot
Press the shutter button and take a picture.
